This seven-week cycle we’re looking at various monastic practices. How can they shape us as a very different type of community?

Throughout the cycle we’ll be keeping Saturdays free for Greenbelt preparation.

Cara’s made this week’s resource on grace, and the community meal on Thursday will be at Tracey, Rich & Harvey’s.

Also this week: Saturday community meal @ the Mish at 10am, and Sunday 10:30 @ the convent chapel for a renewal of guardians’ vows, including dismissals, renewals and welcoming Ali as a new guardian, too! Music makers come at 10 on Sunday to prepare.

We’ll be looking at words in all their forms: speaking, text,  language and stories. Pete Rollins suggests that emerging churches are not trying to change the beliefs of their members, but rather examine the way they hold those beliefs. He talks about “tools to view the world of our understanding in a completely different manner”. Language can be one of these tools. So, by looking at the language we use, we can self-consciously explore the way we hold our beliefs.
