Journeys cycle: Pilgrimage

Labyrinth tile On 24th July 09 the Rev Andrew Bunch came to tell us about his pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago. There were a few things that stuck in my mind…
  • Some days he felt healthy and tried to keep going but met with disastrous consequences. It struck him that the times you think you are strong are often not the times when you are strong.
  • The 500 mile route was marked, often sparsely, with yellow arrows marked by fellow pilgrims.  Andrew reflected that someone you don’t know can give you invaluable encouragement on your life journey
  • Pilgrimages should take you out of your comfort zone – this is so often when you will encounter God.
  • Andrew felt a sense of let down when he arrived in Santiago de Compostela. He reminded us that a pilgrimage is about the journey, not the destination.
Many thanks to Andrew for sharing his journey with us. Pace Bene
