We met in Oxford's parks and cafés, our own homes and borrowed chapels. You'd have been really welcome to join us at any of our getting togethers.
But we are no longer active, after an amazing 18 or so years. Thank you to everyone who has contributed in whatever way; you have been a blessing. Seasons change and things die off, go to ground and become nourishment for future growth. We hope this is what mayBe will be going forward: compost for wonderful new communities and spiritual growth.
mayBe is made up of a couple of dozen people in and around Oxford reaching for community through sharing meals, prayers, thoughts, Eucharists and creative acts.
We have a monthly cycle of gatherings for worship including a short outside meetings and indoor meetings with shared lunch and discussion, Thursday night prayer in Bethlehem Chapel followed by a natter at the pub, and other ad hoc events. See what we do for deets and just drop us a line/call/tweet if you'd like to come along to anything. See our story for more on who we are and our ten year journey so far.
Recently we have been...
The community will be meeting for worship on Sunday 20 September at 12:00 to celebrate Peace Sunday.

A few of us gathered together for the first time in months. We brought picnics and tuned into the Greenbelt Sunday Worship online.
This year's Greenbelt theme is Wild at Home. The reading was the parable of the great banquet from Luke 14. A place where the outsiders, the forgotten, the overlooked, the poor, the marginalised are welcome and where an unexpected banquet takes place. We were all encouraged to put our dreams on paper. To send them in to be made into one large creative piece bringing everyone's dreams together.

We gathered in Florence Park as the weather signalled the turning seasons - it was dry on arrival and very wet as soon as we started worshipping huddled under the bandstand. We celebrated Creation Time (a new church season to extend harvest to a wider reflection on our relationship with the natural world), making links to the Global Strike Climate Protest which some members had taken part in last Friday. Extinction Rebellion use the bee as one of their symbols - dramatic declines in bee numbers threaten us all.

Facilitated by Tilly, Some of us have been meeting each month to explore the Enneagram together.
We have worked our way through a book, agreeing to read a few chapters between each meeting, with some supplementing this with podcasts, webs searches or other books on the subject. We gather together to share our thoughts, and try to discover kernels of truth that speak to us, challenge us, and need further chewing over.

We had a surprise email from some German ecumenical rural church leaders, who were coming to a fresh expressions conference at CMS, asking if they could visit. We gathered in Florence Park for worship and a picnic, so they could find out more about our life together. We always feel complete frauds when people want to know about how we ‘do’ church!! We kind of make it up as we go along, learning from experience what seems to work and what doesn’t, gratefully receiving whatever anyone is able to offer into our life.
